Patricia is the eldest of three children born to a pair of laidback hippies. Her father works in an art gallery and her mother spends most of her time fundraising for noble charitable causes. Both are purebloods, and whilst her paternal grandparents are similarly bohemian, her maternal grandparents are more your traditional pureblood family who are not at all pleased with the way their daughter turned out. Patricia has consciously become almost the opposite of her parents - where they are messy, she is clean and neat (verging on the obsessive-complusive); where they are laidback, she is uptight; where they are artistic, she is materialistic; where they have their heads in the clouds, she has hers firmly on her shoulders. To her credit, a great deal of this comes from feeling responsible for her younger siblings. She took to heart her maternal grandparents' criticisms of how the children were being raised and set about putting things right - cleaning, making sure the food on the table has the right nutrients, that torn clothes are mended, and they all have practical shoes (not Lithuanian traditional peasant shoes made out of grass reeds). She shares something of her father's artistic appreciation in her attention to detail and love of pretty clothes and accessories, and something of her mother's drive but applied to goals closer to home than Madagascan street children. At Hogwarts she worked, stressed, and poked her nose where it wasn't wanted. She had a fair number of friends, often who didn't like each other particularly, notably cutting across the Slytherins vs. everyone-else boundary often felt at Hogwarts. Nothing noble, or even intentional, she just doesn't have a group mentality, or even much loyalty. Her final year was spent under Umbridge's headship, and she didn't particularly suffer or benefit from it, although she did despair about the woman's cardigans. She gained five NEWTs (Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes) and graduated without event, aside from a little hyperventilating now and then. She has spent the years since Hogwarts trying to be successful, but with limited luck since she isn't sure what she wants to be successful at. She started off trying to make her way in the world of fashion, but found it frustrating how slowly she was advancing as it was 'experience' that counted rather than ability to do the job (she reflected bitterly). So she took some courses in business and management as a fast track to a job that would actually pay her real money, working as a shop assistant to pay her way. She now works as the store manager of the Diagon Alley branch of Twilfitt and Tattings, and drives her underlings slowly crazy with her high standards and attention to detail. She lives in a small studio flat in Slough because she can't live with others (can't cope with other people's mess) but can't afford anything grander on her own. The war affected her less than most; she was essentially neutral. She can be very outspoken but is far too practical to actively rebel or do anything that will get her in trouble (she is a Slytherin, after all). She was never in danger, being pureblooded and inconsequential, her family were far too absorbed in their own affairs and issues to really consider getting active in the war (somewhat ironically, given that her mother's affairs included being obsessed with helping the poor and needy), and she was not at Hogwarts or anywhere else terribly affected by Voldemort's regime. The worst that really befell her was that, as she was fairly indiscriminate in who she befriended, some people she was quite fond of went to Azkaban for being muggle-borns, and a couple of people she rather liked - Fred Weasley amongst them - ended up getting themselves killed. A rather stupid thing to do, but she did at least acknowledge that the cause they fought for was more real than those her mother threw herself into. She was saddened by their departure, but not permanently scarred. Personality: Patricia is a perfectionist, and not only that, but she wants perfection in everything. It is not enough to be wearing the latest fashions if her work is not up to scratch, and it is not enough to have money if she doesn't even have a boyfriend. She is really doomed to disappointment and will stress herself out over the tiniest of things, let alone the big things (hence the fainting during OWLs). She likes singing (she actually has quite a sweet voice), charms, shoes, belgian chocolate, butterflies, men (the non-sweaty, non-dirty kind), going out to dinner in fancy restaurants, fussing over people (particularly her younger siblings Nigel and Emma), shopping, and grooming. She hates dirt, sweat, panpipe music, disorder, and bad grammar. Her worst habit is of randomly criticising people. She doesn't mean any harm by it - she'd want people to point out if she was doing things wrong so she assumes they must want to know as well. She has very strict standards and has trouble understanding that other people don't share them. For all that, she can be quite sweet and she does try to be friendly to everybody. She doesn't hold it against people if they don't measure up, as nobody ever does. Similarly, although she does believe that pureblood is better, she wouldn't hold that against people either.
